It’s never a wise decision to buy fake Ray-Ban sunglasses. They do not possess the qualities of an authentic pair of Ray-Bans. Not only are they a major fashion blunder, but they will also damage your eyes. Here are a few ways to spot a pair of fake Ray-Ban sunglasses.
Ray-Ban has been producing some of the best quality sunglasses for almost eight decades. For sure, Ray-Ban is one of the best eyewear brands in the world. They are renowned for their Aviators and Wayfarers. It comes as no surprise that Ray-Ban is also one of the most counterfeited brands ever.
Fake Ray-Ban sunglasses are everywhere. Dishonest dealers would try everything to pass a fake Ray-Ban off as the real thing. These manufacturers can be ingenious as well. They craft the replicas to look exactly like the branded ones. However, the original Ray-Ban sunglasses have precise details to it. And lucky for us, these details are often missed out by tricksters.
Flawless packaging
The Ray-Ban retail packaging box is very important. Always check that the logo image, colours and fonts match the ones used by Ray-Ban. The label on the box should have frame and lens description, manufacturer information, barcode and the name of the model. These details should match with the sunglasses and on the bill that comes along with the box.
The retail box should, apart from the sunglasses, contain a black leather case with a Ray-Ban seal on the left side, a Ray-Ban dust cloth and an information booklet. The round seal on the case should be golden and it should read ‘100% UV Protection – Ray-Ban – Sunglasses by Luxottica’.
The unfeigned Ray-Ban sunglasses
Although as genuine as the retail box may seem, they may contain a counterfeited pair of sunglasses. There are certain characteristics of a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that can serve as identification marks. To ensure that your Ray-Ban is bona fide, one may look out for the following characteristics:
- There will be certain details on both the temples. On the left temple would be the model number and size. The right side would feature the style, followed by the name of the manufacturing country and the European Conformity initials (CE).
- The Ray-Ban logo will be etched on both the lenses. On the right lens will be the Ray-Bay logo, while on the left lens, right below the hinges will be the initials ‘RB’.
- If the sunglasses have nose pads, there will be the initials ‘RB’ engraved right at the centre of the metal piece.
And there are a few other points which you should keep in mind, as far as original Ray-Ban sunglasses are concerned.
Pre-2000 models of Ray-Ban sunglasses will have the initials ‘BL’ instead of ‘RB’ on the left lens. These models were produced under Bausch & Lomb, the previous owner of Ray-Ban.
Ray-Ban sunglasses are expensive. If the dealer is giving you at a very good margin, think again. It’s most likely to be a fake version. The genuine ones are made with the best materials and made specially to protect one’s eyes from harmful UV rays. On the other hand, the replicas are made with cheap and substandard materials and hence, can be harmful for your eyes.
Be cautious the next time you go shopping for a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. Remember the identification marks and choose only the original ones.
