Remember the time when sunglasses were just a form of protective eyewear? Today, it takes more time to shop for sunglasses than it does to shop for clothes. This is because they are usually are the first thing that catches a person’s eye. And well, we don’t want it to go wrong now, do we?
Our celebrities have been frequently sighted donning a trendy pair of sunglasses and making a suave statement. So, when the Zee Cine Awards 2014 were aired a few months back, it wasn’t a shock to see our favorite Bollywood stars with sunglasses on.
World’s biggest viewers’ choice awards
Zee Cine Awards started in 1998 in Mumbai and soon became international. In the 2014 awards, held in Mumbai, the beloved ‘King of Bollywood’, presented the nominations for the best film category by performing a spoof of each of the movie nominated. Apart from being extremely humorous and entertaining, his act oozed of a chic style that the ‘Baadshah’ brought to the stage. Wonder how?
Shahrukh and sunglasses
Four out of his six acts had SRK wearing a hip and trendy pair of sunglasses, a different one each time too, which not only accentuated the character he was playing, but also gave him diverse looks. With bold colors and unique styles, King Khan stole away the entire spotlight. Want to know Shahrukh’s sunglasses choices?
The movies nominated were Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Aashiqui 2, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Dhoom 3 and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Dhoom 3 and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag were performed without donning a pair of sunglasses.
When he performed an act for Chennai Express, he was wearing colorful mirror Aviators that not only suited the south-Indian character that he portrayed, but also gave a vibrant and lively feel.
To perform the act for the nominated movie ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, Shahrukh Khan appeared on-stage wearing black Wayfarers and gave the act a touch of suavity. Not only did we laugh at the parody performed by him, comedian Bharti and host Manish Paul, but were totally smitten by his style.
Nostalgia hits with round sunglasses
Let’s not forget his John Lennon style round sunglasses that he wore during his Aashiqui 2 act. Nostalgia hits everytime we are taken back to the John Lennon era and his round sunglasses that had become the talk of the town.
Lastly, his act on Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela got a lot of cheers from the crowd, where Shahrukh could be seen with a pair of stylish two-toned Aviators.
So, this flashback into the Zee Cine Awards was a reminder of how the stars of today are up-to-date with the fashion trends and are striving to put their best foot forward with the best eye gear.
